My Reading Goals for 2014

Last year, I began setting reading goals for myself. One of them was that I would read 30 books throughout the year. When January 1st arrived, to my amazement, I realized I had accomplished my goal! It felt great to achieve this objective after I had worked at it for the whole entire year. After accomplishing my one goal last year, I became inspired to set more goals for myself this year, and I thought I would share some with you. Hopefully by reading mine, it will motivate you to aim high and dream big! Anyways, here's my top 5 reading goals for 2014:

1. Read 35 books this year.
Since i was able to read 30 books last year, it can't be that much harder to read 5 more, right? So far I've read one, but I better get reading if I want to obtain this goal!

2. Finish the Harry Potter series.
I've been reading these books for almost 2 years now, and I'm still not finished! I don't know why it's taking me so long. It's not like I hate the series, because I really do love each novel. Maybe I subconsciously choose not to read them because they're so long? Perhaps I don't want the series to be over, and that's why I keep procrastinating and always pick something else to read instead, saying, "I'll definitely read Harry next!" I honestly don't know what the exact reason is, but this year I'm going to finally finish this series, even if I do have mixed feelings with it ending. I only have one left to read, so this goal surely looks possible.

3. Read all of Jodi Picoult's novels.
I have read quite a few of her books in the past, but this year I want to read them all! Most of the novels I read by Picoult are her early work, so I definitely want to catch up and read some of the newer stories she's written. I hear her first couple of books aren't as strong as her recent ones, so I can't wait to read the rest of them!

4. Read The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks.
This book has been on my must-read list since its release in September. I haven't been able to read it yet, since every single copy has been checked out of my local library for months now! Hopefully there will be one available soon, but in the meantime, this book lands a spot on my list of reading goals for the year.

 5. Read the entire Divergent trilogy.
I haven't read a single book in this series, which is embarrassing to admit. I hear they are supposed to be amazing and with the movie coming out in March, it's surely a no-brainer that I have to read this trilogy. I just don't know if I should wait until after I see the movie to start reading or read the 1st book before. Whatever way I decide, there is no doubt that I will have read all 3 books by the end of the year.

Well those are my 5 goals for the year. What are some of your own goals? Let me know! Leave a comment below.
